Welcome to the 3rd Annual MLS Awards. Last year's 2020 MLS Awards was one of my most popular blog posts of the year, and BlogTO found enough content in there to turn it into three different articles. If you're curious, the 2019 MLS Awards are still kicking around too. I started doing them because I was curious to see what the most expensive house that sold in Toronto on the MLS, then that made me wonder what the least expensive was. Then I wondered about... Are you curious how your house or condo has appreciated over time compared to the average in the city? Or how those average price increases look versus the stock market? Well then you came to the right place. I've been compiling this after the June and December market statistics are released, going back to 2016 (historical reports here). Though TREB's MLS system covers a wide geographic area, the below are just for my main area of interest, the City of Toronto (aka the 416), unless noted otherwise. I'll... [read more]

In the blog last month, I was noting how December condo volumes all of a sudden spiked up and I investigated whether investors were back. (Spoiler: I thought they were.) This month, I'm going to double down on that and look at some of the same things as January's 416 condo sales numbers were record-breaking. This month I want to also highlight that I set up new charts (20 of them!) that are now responsive so you can hover over any line and find the year and the number... [read more]
